1. What is the cartridge for?
The evaBreeze material inside the cartridge absorbs water.
The water then spreads evenly on the surface of the cooling pads. When the hot air goes through the pads, the water absorbs the heat and at the same time saturates the air with water.
Find more about evaporation cooling here: How do evaporative coolers work?
The cartridge also filters out large dust particles from the air.
The color of the cartridge may differ from white to gray and slightly yellow depending on the batch and conditions it was stored and shipped in. Moreover, in 2021 we improved our technology of evaBreeze production, but it affected the color of the material. Here in the picture, you can see the difference between evaBreeze produced in 2020 and 2021. It's not a sign of a used/dirty cartridge but a natural color of basalt: we don't use any chemicals, coloring or bleach to whiten the material. This is to ensure our materials are environment friendly. In addition to the outstanding absorbent properties, this material, unlike the previous version, is completely devoid of any odor. |

2. Is the cartridge included with the device?
The unit comes with one cartridge included. It is already inside so the device can work right out of the box.
You can buy a package (the device with the cartridge inside + extra cartridge) on our website, then the extra cartridge will cost you much cheaper.
3. Can I clean it?
It is not possible to clean the inside of the cartridge, however, you can clean the plastic outer casing with a soft cloth.
4. How often should I replace the cartridge?
It depends on the water and air quality in the area where you use your cooler. We recommend replacing the cartridge every 3-6 months.
The cartridge may begin to look dirtier with time or change color: there is no need to worry about it as long as the cooling capacity stays the same. A little bit more about it here: Evapolar cartridges: wear and tear
5. How can I recycle it?
As we already mentioned, the pads inside the cartridges are made from basalt nanomembranes, which are able to decompose naturally.
Unfortunately, we are still working on the recycling options, so after you used up the cartridge, please, dispose of it according to your local law.
6. Why is the Evapolar cartridge more expensive than its analogs?
The cartridge costs that much because it's made from basalt nano-fibers using a unique technology, to prevent mold and bacteria growth and for much better absorption and cooling effect. Cheaper cartridges made from sponges usually last much less (~3 months) and, as a result, cost much more in the long run.
7. Can I use any cartridge with my cooler?
No. Every Evapolar model has a corresponding cartridge with the same name that doesn’t suit other models. Please, check the model of your Evapolar, and then make sure you chose the right cartridge before buying it. If you are not sure, please, contact our Customer Support team.
